Demolition Drive !

Here comes the Commissioner, Bang opposite IIT, the demolition has come here after transforming Marol Naka, Saki Naka the major link roads to the Mumbai International Airport, its great to see them there, its bad to see them work, its a mixed reaction to be frank, When we talk about one of the many bottlenecks towards the Airport this one was a crucial one, can hold you for hours together.

But not any more, T Chandrashekar is in the scene. with his force, to change the face of yet another city, Mumbai this time. After transforming Thane and Nagpur, winning several accolades for his planning he has been commissioned in Mumabi, where the challenge is far more than the other cities ! Mumbai being the busiest city of India, with a lot of traffic flowing at any point in the day and nights as well. And when a new comer comes to the city he feels the heat here, and if he is from outside of India then that experience could be horrifying, Yes the traffic problem is there in the whole world and the major cities like New York and LA are still fighting it but the number of cars are twice or thrice compared to Mumbai.

And for the shop owners they are in a bad state of mind as their business will be badly hampered, whereas they are also getting a rehabilitation from the government near Hiranandani, so that will be luxury for them and that could boom their business, lets hope them better luck.

But be ready to drive past IIT at the speed of Light !

Convocation Ceremony

Here I am, after a long break from writing, though this one also wont be a much bigger one. M back from Pune, left at 6.45 am in the morning, reached college, Symbiosis Institute of Geoinformatics, at 8.45 a.m, 2 hrs flat. Me and dad went for my convocation. Hence we took our santro. Top speed - 150 and i enoyed the drive today. Ne ways after reaching college we were greeted by our juniors, and after some refreshments we were given robes for the convocation. It was great to see friends after a long time. Good that most of the junta are in Bombay so get to see them though less but atleast once a month.

After we got the robes we were in photosession mode and u can see lots of pics (mine only 2 ;)) After that we were called for the ceremony. The guest of honour was Mr. Rajesh Mathur, President ESRI India and the chief guest was Mr Goel, an ISRO scientist. Dr. Majumdar was also there. Few people from cybertech and Fugro were also present there.

After their talks, we were given our certificates saying we have completed Our Masters in Geoinformatics, I secured O grade which means outstanding, i dont know which meaning to take. (Pictures dint come out well and i cant help it)

After the ceremony, the Poolside lunch which was great, really good, the ice cream was specially very good.

It was good to interact with the juniors and our distinguished faculties and friends. Am now back to home, packing for my next trip, this time its south of Hyderabad, in telangana region, Mahbubnagar district, our study area, will be there for 10-15 days depending on the completion of work. Hence u wont find me online for these days. Lets see if spared by naxals, will write something interesting.

Issued in Public Interest...

Have you ever thought about India, our country, Worlds largest democracy, which has the world’s second largest population. A developing nation, who has its own supercomputers, and state of the art technology. We Indians are in the Intels and Microsofts more than the Gora’s. But at one end it’s a hyper and the other end it’s a wiper. Poverty is also to its max in India. With people owning Maybach’s and Porche’s and there are more people who sleep on footpaths and that too without food on many occasions. But this is a case in the whole world and we are also a part of that world. Leaving that aside people say that we are better than many other countries like Africa, Bangladesh and so on where people don’t get necessary things that we get so easily.

But what about the hype that is created every year by the media about the sports that we don’t play. Yes, Actually the sports that we play is as good as we don’t play it. We don’t have many Olympic medals to our names, may be a handful of them, because of the nutrition supplied at the grass root level is very less or negligible. Where as smaller countries across the world are far better and superior in sports than India. Sports has a lot of potential in any country but it has to be nourished so that we have good players who can compete at World level. Take for instance the Cricket team. Its form is like BSE Sensex one day it goes up like we are the world champions and the other day its like we are worst than the Bangladeshi’s or the UAE Cricket team.

And talking about the National stuff that we have in India… National status is given to a sport or an animal or a bird on the basis of its existence in that particular country or something which the country feels proud of. Take Hockey for instance. We were champs of this sport some time back. And hockey is supposed to be our national game …. HA HA.. We recently lost in the world cup and that’s not new. We hold the 8th or the 10th position in the world in terms of Hockey. It has become a routine to loose tournaments and matches. I guess some other stuff should be promoted as a national game, say KHO KHO or KABADDI or something which the world doesn’t play.

Then take for instance the national animal, Tiger, again a HA HA…. It has become rare; rather Tiger is one of the extinct species of the wild days. We Indians are the major reason for their extinction, either because of the population spreading in the forests leaving those animals homeless or its done for fun and pride. And that day is not far when kids will have tigers left in their books as we have the dinosaurs. And we might soon see a desi version of Jurassic Park…. Rani Baug….wheeeew.. I will be the first one to watch that movie. I guess the street dogs should be made the national animal as we see them more than human beings these days as it is the most competitive runner up after tiger.

Lets talk about our National bird. Peacock, Such a beautiful bird with such flamboyant colours, reflecting the beauty of India but do we people who live in cities ever see that bird. Ask a kid around has he/she seen a peacock, and mostly the answer will be negative its because that is also becoming extinct and left in a very less part of India. I feel Kauva (Crow) should be promoted as the National Bird of India, What say ???

Hey how can we miss our National Television channel? DD or Door Darshan, We cant forget our childhood days when we used to see EK TITLI or MAHABHARAT or RAMAYANA or the HE-MAN, or say EK SHUNYA SHUNYA etc… etc… But that time there was no option and we were happy with what we had but now when the world has advanced we can’t just stick to what we were. Door Darshan, As the name suggests don’t dare come near it, be as far as possible. Coz u won’t find any thing worth watching on it, Its not that it doesn’t have good stuff but most of the time the reception is so bad that you wont be able to watch.

This guy is good for nothing, Always complaining, ye kharab who kharab, system kharab hai and things like that. Bahot Complaints ho gayin na… sorry for that but can’t resist.

If my brother or sister does something wrong, I scold them, If my nephew or neice do some mistakes I try and rectify them, Why? Because they are close to me and I care for them, I try to make them a better human being and the same holds true for me when I do mistakes my parents do the same to me and the chain goes on. It’s the matter of love and affection that one has for the other. They find mistakes in me and then I try and rectify those mistakes. By that they might seem cruel to me but I might not realize that it was for my benefit. The same holds true for the country I am born, the country I live in, the country I will hopefully die. I will try and make it a better nation. A nation which is an example for the world. This shud be a pledge by ever one, I feel.

Did u notice? I left the National flower untouched, Lotus, It won’t grow in a sea or a swimming pool, it grows in the pond, which has dirty stagnant water in it, But people ignore the dirty water and that same flower is used for decorating several bouquets…

The Black Friday !

Yet again a blast ...

Many people keep loosing their lives due to many different reasons. Some stuck in mines (54 people died recently), some due to drought, floods, etc etc.... And if nothing natural happens then its the war, take Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon or Palestine. Blasts have been rocking the world. Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, England, India and many other countries have faced the SOS situations. For Iraq, Afghanistan the frequency is too high though. Indians are not behind, mind you.

The recent multiple blasts of Malegaon claiming more than 50 lives and injuring more than 200 odd people was a scene which very few can visualise. The chaos after a blast is unmanagable, the reason being the trauma of seeing bodies lying every where. The red blood flowing through half deads, the instict to save some one, but to find one self helpless makes it more difficult.

Finding people responsible for such blasts is what the Indian Government has miserably failed in doing. The horrified Indians asking for the accused are answered that "Pakistan has done it", Let it be the 93 blast, the Akshardham, Parliament, Amarnath Yatra or the recent Mumbai blasts... or any thing that has happened in India the plain and simple reply by our Govt. .... "Pakistan has done it all"....

If Pakistan has done it all, What has India done? there has to be a plan for such multiple attacks .... Where is our intelligence? What is our police, Military, RAW, etc etc been doing this long. The blasts occured on the day when around 600 grenade launchers were found in the name of Naxals. Now, here Pakistan has not done any thing. Veerappan was an Indian, who terrorised the whole south India, by kidnapping, killing and smugling. How much time did we take to capture him and kill him?

Dawood is in Pakistan or Dubai! What about Chota Rajan, Why is he left? Is he not a terrorist. May be he is a gangster... I don't find a difference in Terrorism and gangsterism... both have the mission of terrorising people and then doing whatever they want.

Many questions come and go but the answers are hard to find.

See if u can find for the answers....

May Allah's peace be upon the deads and also on all of us..... Amen

The Sixth Sense...... :)

Ah hA!

These days are busier than ever... with work increasing, presentaions, paper work etc etc... has made life tougher but exciting.. The project is becoming more and more interesting like never before. Hope the same continues. All this reflecting on daily life. Every thing i do, i do it for u (Project ofcourse), is the scene these days.

Was at home in the weekend and had a presentation on Wednesday, i.e. today. I forgot all the formals at home, so had to come home to collect a few. At night, while surfing the channels, caught hold of Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Slept late and as usual got up late. Again the same scene Rush Hour # 3. While leaving today morning for work forgot my cell phone at home. Thanks to the busy schedule. I suddenly realised that the sixth sense is acting on me. Or rather its me who is acting the Non - sense way. Hope i come back to my senses early. Now that the presentation is done. Half of the load has gone down, but there are hell lot of things that are to be done.

I was supposed to meet one of my juniors, who came from Pune. And I am really sorry for forgetting my phone my friend
which caused all the inconvinience, especially to him.
(Hope he doesn't stop reading my blogs :( .... )

Haan, talking about Munna Bhai.. Bole tou.. Gandhigiri hit hai. A nice movie made with the same old magic. Though didn't see it full but the part that i saw was great and touching and flashing a message very clearly. "Teen goliyon se Gandhiji ko maar sakte ho, unke aadarshon ko nahin". And thats the movie with a good social message with lot of entertainment. Circuit is as usual. And Mamu is left mamu here too... Don't miss it!

And this weekend saw another movie, The Angrez, AHA, Thanks to Wasim, my friend who showed me a desi movie (Ultra Local). Made in Hyderabad with unknown actors, but believe me its a movie about 5-6 mid aged Hyderabadi men, who doesn't do any thing. And they get involved with some NRI's and then its a mess and u will love that mess. Especially Ismail Bhai and Salim Pheku. The language used is pure Hyderabadi and its fun to listen that.

And finally, the news
flashof the weekend was, the death of the Croc Hunter, Steve Irwin. Felt bad about him, coz he was one of my favourites on TV. Nice guy, who led his life in the midst of animals and enjoyed every snake and croc he handled.

Thats all... don't ask me how i managed time for writing this blog, came home to collect my cell phone and hence managed it some how ... ha ha :)

IITians are NERDS !?!

It was a double holiday, one for the simple reason that it was Sunday and the other being Ganesh Chaturthi, which is also a holiday. I was online in the afternoon and I met one of my junior, Senthil (http://www.ayearafter.blogspot.com/) , on a gmail chat. He happened to ask me

"Where are u?

I was in the lab doing some project work and I replied humbly...

"In the lab"

his next expression was a smiley :) . I thought somethings wrong and I happened to ask him whats so strange that you are smiling. He replied, that theres a topic published in todays newspaper - Times of India, saying that a study has been conducted, which says that IITians are NERDS.

Nerd at Dictionary.com means 'an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit'. I returned home after this episode and read the newspaper. It was a democratic study, in the sense that it was by the IITians, for the IITians and also the world, and of the IITians. The study said that the Students admitted, are very less enthusiastic and are more into studies leaving cultural events and extra curricular activities. This study was conducted by interviewing around 550 IITians, mostly from the first and the second year.

Thank God that it doesn't hold true for the Research Associates. I have been staying in IIT for almost 2 months now and what I feel is something very different. Seeing it in a different perspective, What I found at IIT is that few people are really active at least in our Hostel, Tansa. Tansa is a hostel for staffs (Research Associates) and hence they are very active as they don't have much to study unlike the students of IIT. At Tansa, there are all sorts of celeberations and other activities taking place from time to time. Picnics, Ganesh Mandals, Holi, Independence Day to Garden maintenence, every thing and we see people actively participating in it. We (me and Yogesh) don't get time though for all that. But its nice to see them work and enjoy. They also came up with a bi-monthly magazine, reflecting their image of being active, which is appreciable.

This was about Tansa, Talking about some students hostel, Hostel - 4, which is adjacent hostel. Our hostel room window is parallel to the common room of Hostel 4 where the junior students of IIT reside. And believe me when we come back from our labs at night, we can hear some live performances, Some singing 'Dooba Dooba rehta hoon' and playing guitar and some singing Summer of 69 - by Bryan Adams. Its actually great to listen to them. As the common room is quiet close to our rooms window its really great to hear them perfom LIVE. Amazing guitar playing and singing ability they posses. Once we were returning and from somewhere accross the IIT ground we heard some real live music. We were stunned to hear that, coz it was never heard before. It was an amazing number though I forgot the tune.

We can see people jogging in the evenings, coz we are never up in the morning to see them. Sports is also very common amongst youngsters. I have seen people going to badminton court late night.

Its actually a treat to watch these Young Guns of India to perform, Let it be Mood Indigo (mood-i) or Techfest. They are born to perform...

I confess

I confess ... I am addicted, This time its not Tea though... its BLOGS. Read ON....

Writing a blog after a long time... But its not that difficult now. When I started Blogging i used to think that I won't be able to write. But now mind you... BLOGS AN ADDICTION .. and you can't live without writing it. The mind has become restless. You sit, stand, sleep, brush, have tea or try doing other regular activity. What you see is, an opportunity to blog and your mind starts constructing sentences, willingly or unwillingly at times. If this is not true ask a blogger or try being one of them. I don't know if the same case goes for reading the blogs or not. May be for bloggers like me its not, but there are much more interesting blogs that pop up every now and then. Search for them, they are in plenty.

So many blogs, so many, that are written daily. People rarely make big money by blogging but then, what is it that pulls them. Its, I guess, the freedom to express. Express your thoughts, ideas, stories, poetries and what not.. almost everything. Then after a certain point of time when people stop reading articles, or stop commenting on the blogs, that addiction is still continued and the thirst for writing more blogs goes on.

I will tell you a story. I was in IIT. We (Me and friends) have a daily tea/coffee session around 10.30 - 11.00 a.m. Reaching the Nescafe coffee shack is about 5-7 minutes from our lab.
Beleive me, Trillions of topics, come to the mind on which very interesting articles can be published. And then the mind works tripple its efficiency and simply doesn't stop thinking.

So many topics are in my mind but am not able to execute them... thats because the time factor. Very little time is left for these activities as work takes the major chunk and the remaining is for the bare minimun human needs.

So take care before you start :) All the best and share your experiences about blogging in the Comments section. CYA
