Have you ever thought about India, our country, Worlds largest democracy, which has the world’s second largest population. A developing nation, who has its own supercomputers, and state of the art technology. We Indians are in the Intels and Microsofts more than the Gora’s. But at one end it’s a hyper and the other end it’s a wiper. Poverty is also to its max in India. With people owning Maybach’s and Porche’s and there are more people who sleep on footpaths and that too without food on many occasions. But this is a case in the whole world and we are also a part of that world. Leaving that aside people say that we are better than many other countries like Africa, Bangladesh and so on where people don’t get necessary things that we get so easily.
But what about the hype that is created every year by the media about the sports that we don’t play. Yes, Actually the sports that we play is as good as we don’t play it. We don’t have many Olympic medals to our names, may be a handful of them, because of the nutrition supplied at the grass root level is very less or negligible. Where as smaller countries across the world are far better and superior in sports than India. Sports has a lot of potential in any country but it has to be nourished so that we have good players who can compete at World level. Take for instance the Cricket team. Its form is like BSE Sensex one day it goes up like we are the world champions and the other day its like we are worst than the Bangladeshi’s or the UAE Cricket team.
And talking about the National stuff that we have in India… National status is given to a sport or an animal or a bird on the basis of its existence in that particular country or something which the country feels proud of. Take Hockey for instance. We were champs of this sport some time back. And hockey is supposed to be our national game …. HA HA.. We recently lost in the world cup and that’s not new. We hold the 8th or the 10th position in the world in terms of Hockey. It has become a routine to loose tournaments and matches. I guess some other stuff should be promoted as a national game, say KHO KHO or KABADDI or something which the world doesn’t play.
Then take for instance the national animal, Tiger, again a HA HA…. It has become rare; rather Tiger is one of the extinct species of the wild days. We Indians are the major reason for their extinction, either because of the population spreading in the forests leaving those animals homeless or its done for fun and pride. And that day is not far when kids will have tigers left in their books as we have the dinosaurs. And we might soon see a desi version of Jurassic Park…. Rani Baug….wheeeew.. I will be the first one to watch that movie. I guess the street dogs should be made the national animal as we see them more than human beings these days as it is the most competitive runner up after tiger.
Lets talk about our National bird. Peacock, Such a beautiful bird with such flamboyant colours, reflecting the beauty of India but do we people who live in cities ever see that bird. Ask a kid around has he/she seen a peacock, and mostly the answer will be negative its because that is also becoming extinct and left in a very less part of India. I feel Kauva (Crow) should be promoted as the National Bird of India, What say ???
Hey how can we miss our National Television channel? DD or Door Darshan, We cant forget our childhood days when we used to see EK TITLI or MAHABHARAT or RAMAYANA or the HE-MAN, or say EK SHUNYA SHUNYA etc… etc… But that time there was no option and we were happy with what we had but now when the world has advanced we can’t just stick to what we were. Door Darshan, As the name suggests don’t dare come near it, be as far as possible. Coz u won’t find any thing worth watching on it, Its not that it doesn’t have good stuff but most of the time the reception is so bad that you wont be able to watch.
This guy is good for nothing, Always complaining, ye kharab who kharab, system kharab hai and things like that. Bahot Complaints ho gayin na… sorry for that but can’t resist.
If my brother or sister does something wrong, I scold them, If my nephew or neice do some mistakes I try and rectify them, Why? Because they are close to me and I care for them, I try to make them a better human being and the same holds true for me when I do mistakes my parents do the same to me and the chain goes on. It’s the matter of love and affection that one has for the other. They find mistakes in me and then I try and rectify those mistakes. By that they might seem cruel to me but I might not realize that it was for my benefit. The same holds true for the country I am born, the country I live in, the country I will hopefully die. I will try and make it a better nation. A nation which is an example for the world. This shud be a pledge by ever one, I feel.
Did u notice? I left the National flower untouched, Lotus, It won’t grow in a sea or a swimming pool, it grows in the pond, which has dirty stagnant water in it, But people ignore the dirty water and that same flower is used for decorating several bouquets…

hmm good article but along with scolding ur loved ones when they do mistake you also give them suggestions about how to rectify them...so looking forward to see an article about how things can be made better for our country.
Just a additional info about poor countries having good athletes(eg Africa). In Kenya from childhood people know that being good in sport is their ticket to get into USA.So they work for it:).
